PDR on 2021 Cadillac Escalade

Paintless Dent Repair or PDR can be conducted on a variety of vehicles. However, the more expensive a vehicle, the trickier the entire venture becomes for the certified technician. Any misstep could cost thousands of dollars, thus when an expensive car comes in. Here at the Dent Guy, we employ someone who’s an expert on that particular model.

Dan, our resident Dent Guy, was working on the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. Before we get into that, let’s get into some of the basics.

Define PDR.

PDR or Paintless Dent Repair is a method by which certified technicians use special tools and techniques to remove minor dents and dings from a vehicle’s body. There are many benefits to PDR. For one, as the name suggests, it doesn’t have to involve any extra paint or filler material. It can, thus, also cost you considerably less than any other method of dent removal.

PDR is convenient and less time-consuming, not just for the customer but also for certified technicians who came up with this entirely new technique. It’s a very popular method of dent repair now, and you’re very likely to find auto shops that offer the service.

How Did the Dent Guy Repair a 2021 Cadillac Escalade

The procedure for paintless dent repair all starts the same. Dan gauged the damage on the vehicle and then ensured the dent didn’t create any scratches or shifts in the paint job. Once that was done, he could move towards conducting the paintless dent repair. The Cadillac Escalade for very new as it only had about 400 miles under its belt.

To conduct PDR on the dent, Dan had to gain access to the area where the dents were present. General Motors, which manufactures Cadillac Escalades, other SUVs, and trucks, have started using Aluminium Doors now. It means the removal process is now a little different than what it used to be. This change didn’t create any problem for Dan. It just required more technique to reach the point that he could manipulate the metal. The Cadillac also has laminated glass for soundproofing, and Dan removed the interior trim so he could get access to the lower damage without drilling any holes. Drilling holes would lower the value of the escalade, and Dan understood that.

Dan then slowly applied pressure using metal rods and body picks to remove the dent without much maneuvering. Once he had done that, he replaced the laminated glass and interior trim the way it was. He then looked at the dent from the outside to ensure that there weren’t any bumps. Viola! The car was ready.
